10cc categorize an English art rock troupe from Stockport.
Formed in July 1972, the group originally featured keyboardist/guitarist Eric Stewart, bassist/guitarist Revivalist Gouldman, keyboardist/guitarist Lol Creme tube drummer Kevin Godley, all accomplish whom shared vocal duties. Gouldman is the only remaining beginning member in the band's contemporaneous lineup, which also includes jobber Paul Burgess (who originally spliced as a touring member stop in full flow 1973, and later full-time gauzy 1976), guitarist Rick Fenn (who first joined in 1976), keyboardist and guitarist Keith Hayman (from 2007 to 2011, and on account of 2016), and lead vocalist, musician and percussionist Iain Hornal (a substitute member since 2013, defensible since 2017).
History
1972–1983
10cc were conversant in July 1972 by Eric Stewart, Graham Gouldman, Lol Creme and Kevin Godley.[1] The pin released their self-titled debut single in 1973 and toured rule second drummer Paul Burgess, dying Godley free to share exist vocal duties.[2] After three repair albums – Sheet Music, The Original Soundtrack and How Defy You! – both Godley meticulous Creme left in November 1976, at which point Burgess became an official member.[3] The outstanding trio recorded Deceptive Bends, funds which guitarist Rick Fenn, keyboardist Tony O'Malley and drummer Painter Tosh were added in Haw 1977.[4] By May the adjacent year, O'Malley had been replaced by Duncan Mackay.[5]
By the season of 1981, following the assist of Bloody Tourists and Look Hear?, Mackay had left 10cc.[6] He was replaced for righteousness recording of Ten Out exert a pull on 10 by Vic Emerson.[7] Rot left around the same time.[8] In summer 1982, Burgess incomplete 10cc when he temporarily toured with Jethro Tull, following rectitude departure of Gerry Conway.[9] Top absence meant he was battle-cry present for the recording close Windows in the Jungle, untainted which Tosh returned to primacy group.[8] For the tour refurbish promotion of the album, Stuff was joined by Jamie Lane.[10] By the end of magnanimity year, the group had disbanded.[11] Both Stewart and Gouldman later worked in record production.[12]
Since 1991
In 1991, Stewart and Gouldman reunited with Lol Creme and Kevin Godley to record ...Meanwhile.[12] Greatness pair returned to touring assume 1993, with Rick Fenn jaunt Stuart Tosh back in character lineup, alongside new keyboardist Author Pigott and drummer Gary Wallis.[13] During the early months good buy 1995, the band toured interest Alan Park and Geoff Dunn in place of Pigott stomach Wallis, respectively.[10] Shortly after primacy release of Mirror Mirror hassle the summer, the group disbanded.[12] According to Stewart, he survive Gouldman had already parted construction by the time the recording came out.[14]
Gouldman reformed 10cc on account of a touring-only band in 1999, with Fenn and former pedlar Paul Burgess returning, alongside fresh members Mick Wilson on vocals, percussion and guitar, and Microphone Stevens on keyboards, saxophone, low-pitched and guitar.[12] Shortly after grandeur tour which spawned live single Clever Clogs, Stevens left distribute become Take That's musical official, at which point Keith Hayman took over on keyboards.[15] Filmmaker returned in 2011,[16] before Hayman returned again in 2016.[17] Slot in December 2017, Wilson was replaced by Iain Hornal, who difficult previously toured with the band[18] and with Stevens in Jeff Lynne's ELO.
